Recommended Products

It is important to know your hair porosity, needs and issues before you invest your money in buying any hair product. This will provide you with the best opportunity to know and buy products that work well for your hair’s porosity and needs. So, when you buy a product, always study the effects of said products on your hair before buying in bulk. For example, if you have high porosity hair and you know light weight oils don’t work for you and you use Castor oil (heavy weight oil) but you notice the Castor oil is not working for you then pls. stop.

Leave – in Conditioners

Kinky-Curly Knot Today – heard many great things and a lot of hair vloggers and bloggers use it. I have never used it and have been wary because I am a 4C low porosity Chiquita and this product does not have water listed as one of its ingredients  but it does have other good ingredients mentioned such as mango extract and slippery elm. A good leave-in conditioner has a water base but there are some leave-in conditioners without a water base that work well for some natural hair Chiquitas.
Oyin Handmade Hair Dew – I have heard a lot about this product especially as a co-wash.
Jane Carter Revitalizing Leave-in Conditioner – I use this product a lot specifically to moisturize my hair when in braids. Available in Lagos, Nigeria (thank God)
Giovanni Direct Leave-In- I use this product all the time when I do the LOC method (or in my case LCO). This product is water soluble.

Creams/Butters

Shea butter – this product is a staple Holy Grail Product. It works, works and works for all types of hair, it can even work for low porosity hair (if you use heat with it). Also, when I say shea butter I don’t mean Shea moisture shea butter or Cantu shea butter they do work but if you want the best and you are not about spending a lot of money then go for the raw unrefined shea butter (especially my Naija Chiquitas). You take that and make your own butter mix. Take your shea butter and mix it with your preferred oils. Or you can watch some great YouTube vloggers, e.g. naptural85 butter mix. (Naptural85 buttercream mix)
Miss Jessie’s buttercreams – I have tried this product, and it is light and I did notice that although it moisturized and gave my hair shine it also left my hair oily and greasy (Yeap…product build-up).
As I Am Twist Defining Cream
Camille Rose Naturals Almond Jai
Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie – pls. don’t let curl enhancing fool you. This product will not turn coil to curl. Speaking from experience
